V, also known as Valerie, is a pivotal character in the video game Cyberpunk 2077. V is the customizable protagonist players control, with the player choosing their gender, appearance, and lifepath.

Regardless of the chosen lifepath (Streetkid, Nomad, or Corpo), V's story ultimately converges when they become entangled with Jackie Welles, a fellow mercenary. Together, they embark on increasingly dangerous jobs in Night City.

V's life takes a dramatic turn during a heist at Arasaka, where they acquire the Biochip, a device containing the engram of Johnny Silverhand, a legendary rockerboy and terrorist. This event initiates a fight for survival, as V battles both corporate forces and the encroaching personality of Silverhand.

Throughout the game, V's primary objective is to find a way to remove the Biochip and prevent Silverhand from permanently overwriting their consciousness. The player's choices influence V's relationships, allegiances, and ultimately, their fate.
